Mamma Mooa - how can I resist you? |

We have created a special new flavour which will only be available when global hit musical Mamma Mia comes to Newcastle’s Metro Arena in December. The aptly named Mamma MOO-A, a blend of Greek yoghurt and lemon, reflects its sunny mood and Greek Island backdrop.

The Metro Arena is the only UK date outside London on Mamma Mia’s international tour and the theatre wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. Consequently they approached Doddington Dairy, whose farm made ice cream is already sold in the theatre, to create a unique flavour. Inspired by the musical which combines Abba’s timeless songs with a story of fun, friendship and family in the Greek Islands, Mamma MOO-A is a refreshing blend of creamy Greek yoghurt and tangy lemon.
The 120ml tubs of Mamma MOO-A will be available from 12th December to 17th January during performances of Mamma Mia at the Newcastle Metro Arena.
Paul Tappenden, Arena Marketing Director said: ‘MAMMA MIA! coming to Newcastle is a real coup for the city, making it the only place outside of London where it can be seen in 2009. The show features a strong Greek theme, which will be continued within the Arena to get fans in the mood, and a major part of this theme will be a specially commissioned flavour of Ice Cream from Arena suppliers Doddington’s, Lemon Greek Delight MAMMA MOO-A, which will no doubt go down a storm at the shows, helping to keep the lively audiences that little bit cooler!’
Jackie Maxwell of Doddington Dairy gives us some background to the flavour that they have chosen: ‘This was a challenge which we were delighted to take on. From the outset we were aware that we needed an ice cream to reflect the upbeat, happy mood of the musical and it need to be a flavour that was synonymous with Greece – therefore it had to be lemon. It has a really zingy flavour and is guaranteed to refresh all of those people who have been singing their hearts out during the show.’
